Generally I find following the #solarpunk hashtag on the (microblogging) Fediverse already to yield some good results to find interesting stuff. #permacomuting is also an interesting hashtag usually.

You can modify it to do what you want more or less. The only common core is that it is all federated via ActivtyPub, the rest is decided by modules, which include microblogging like Mastodon, but I think (not entirely sure) also group forums like Lemmy. It’s early days for the project still.

There is some discussion on the issue tracker about fetching a json file with all the communities from the Lemmyverse search engine to improve discoverability.

Imho the best would be one that is customizable by the instance admins.

AOC is also namedropping Solarpunk. I think it is quite well known as a term with younger left-leaning people, but it rarely goes beyond a “green new deal” kind of understanding. But it isn’t really bad if people get to know about it that way.

There are some local classified websites where you can post stuff for free and there are also multiple nearby thrift stores for second hand stuff that will sell things very cheaply for you if you waive your own part of the price.
